KSPP hosts conference on ‘Dynamics of false cases’

Questions around the growing public discourse on ‘false cases’ came under close examination at a two-day National Conference on ‘The Dynamics of False Cases’, organised by the Kautilya School of Public Policy (KSPP), GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, on August 21 and 22. The conference was held in association with Yugantar, the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) and Bhumika Women’s Collective, Hyderabad.

Indian women’s rights lawyer and author Flavia Agnes, co-founder of Majlis Legal Centre, delivered the keynote address. Drawing on her long experience in law and advocacy, Agnes examined concerns surrounding allegations of false cases, particularly in matters involving domestic violence and gender justice. Sessions focused on “Legal Cases and Judicial Processes”, “Women’s Complaints and Investigative Processes” and “False Cases in Popular Discourse”. 

Panel discussions, including “Joining the Dots: The Empirics of Police Complaints” and “The Discourse of False Cases”, brought together lawyers, researchers, journalists and activists. Justice Mukta Gupta also participated in a special conversation with Advocate Vasudha Nagaraj offering a judicial perspective.
