The BJP has strongly criticized the state government for forcibly taking away land donated for the poor, demanding an immediate apology from the Chief Minister. Questions loom over what happened to the remaining 30 acres of land and who authorized its takeover.

BJP national leader Eatela Rajender accused the ruling Congress party of trampling on the homes of the helpless, saying, “The Chief Minister must immediately apologize for demolishing the dwellings of the poor. While 32 acres of Bhoodan land sheltered the needy, the remaining 30 acres appear to have been grabbed by influential people. The public deserves answers without delay.”

On Saturday, Eatela visited Ambedkar Bhavan in Khammam, meeting the displaced landless families. He assured them that the BJP would stand with them and personally served meals to those who had lost their homes. The party had arranged food for residents who had been left hungry and in despair, and Eatela wiped their tears, pledging continuous support during this crisis.

At a press conference later, Eatela condemned the state government’s approach, saying the Congress administration had callously ignored the plight of innocent villagers in Velugumatla for the past five days. He pointed out that homes were demolished before residents’ eyes, forcing them onto the streets, and that victims were cursing the government for its failures.

Eatela further highlighted that, except for one area, all land in Khammam district was allocated to the ruling party, including key ministerial positions. While the people celebrated promises of justice, their homes were ruthlessly demolished after the government took office.

He stressed that Bhoodan land was meant for the poor and questioned the state government’s awareness of this principle. Recalling Vinoba Bhave’s Bhoodan land donations, Eatela said survey numbers 147, 148, and 149 included 62 acres intended for the needy. “Earlier no one paid attention, but with land prices soaring today, the rich are eyeing this property. The government’s administration is limited only to demolition drives,” he said.

Eatela criticized the government for not providing even basic amenities to the poor. He recalled that in 2009, Justice Challa Kodandaram ordered electricity and water for these families, but successive governments ignored the orders. Today, even the minimal facilities are denied, and houses are being locked forcibly.
