Keesaragutta comes alive for Sivaratri, devotees throng the hill

Cries hailing Lord Shiva reverberated through the Keesaragutta hill as devotees made a bee-line to the site that is otherwise quiet in the outskirts of the city. On Wednesday, devotees performed Mahanyasa Purvaka Rudrabhishekam and other special Abishekams to Lord Shiva from early morning. A large number of devotees thronged the Shivalinga and performed special pujas with honey, cow's milk and panchamrutha.

On the first day of Brahmotsavams which began on Monday, Vedic scholars performed the puja in a grand manner. Temple chairman Tatakam Narayana Sharma and padma couple participated in the rituals. After that, a yagashala was inaugurated at a place set up adjacent to the temple.

As part of the Brahmotsavams on the second day, Bhavani Sivadurga and Ramalingeswara Swamy's Kalyanotsavam was held on Tuesday night. On behalf of the government, Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy participated in Kalyanotsavam and presented silk clothes. In this context, the arrangements for the fair were made under the supervision of district additional collector Vijender Reddy. The Brahmotsavams are being held under the supervision of Rachakonda CP Sudheer Babu under the supervision of CCTV cameras amidst heavy security to prevent any untoward incident.
