In a bid to enhance work-from-home (WFH) opportunities across Andhra Pradesh, the state government has initiated a comprehensive survey to assess the needs and challenges faced by remote workers. The survey, which commenced on Wednesday, aims to collect data from individuals aged 18 to 50 with educational qualifications and an understanding of modern technology, ensuring better employment prospects through remote work.

Government officials will visit households in both urban and rural areas to gather information on the number of people currently engaged in WFH, the issues they face, and the kind of support they expect from the government. The survey is set to be completed by the 10th of next month, after which a strategic action plan will be formulated and implemented.

As part of its initiative, the government intends to provide improved infrastructure for those already working remotely, including enhanced broadband connectivity and adequate workspace solutions. The survey will identify challenges such as internet speed limitations and the availability of dedicated workspaces within households. Additionally, officials will evaluate the interest of qualified individuals in joining IT, IT-enabled services (ITES), and other relevant sectors through WFH models.

Another key aspect of the survey is to determine the availability of private buildings that could be converted into shared workspaces for remote employees. If a significant number of people in a particular locality express interest in WFH, the government plans to establish co-working centers with necessary facilities to accommodate 20 to 25 individuals per center.

Following the completion of the survey, the state government will engage with various IT companies to explore collaboration opportunities and facilitate remote job placements. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of boosting employment rates and ensuring seamless remote working conditions for professionals in Andhra Pradesh.
