The Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered Andhra Pradesh with investments of Rs.2.08 lakh crore and laid the foundation stone for the much awaited railway zone in a grand public meeting at the Andhra University Engineering College Grounds on Wednesday.
Modi launched, inaugurated, and laid the foundation stones for projects ranging from energy, railways, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and industrial development. Among others he laid the foundation stone for a railway zone here and NTPC's integrated green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka in Anakapalli district.
The green hydrogen hub is a joint green energy ecosystem initiative between NTPC Green Energy Ltd and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP).
The Prime Minister virtually laid the foundation stone for Krishnapatnam industrial hub, a Rs 1,518 crore project coming up on a 2,500-acre land parcel in the first phase. It is expected to generate employment opportunities for 50,000 people.
Foundation stone was laid for a Rs 1,877 crore bulk drug park in Nakkapalli. Entailing an investment of Rs 11,542 crore, the bulk drug park coming up on 2,002 acres of land is expected to provide jobs for 54,000 people.
AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan were also present at the event.
This was Modi's first visit to the state after he assumed the office of the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term in 2024. The NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh consisting of TDP, BJP and Janasena played a key role in forming the union government.
“After five years, Andhra Pradesh once again has an NDA government, and we are here to fulfill your aspirations,” Modi said. He further added, “By 2030, our goal is to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually. Andhra Pradesh will lead this green revolution.”
Modi assured the people of Andhra Pradesh that the NDA government would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the state in every endeavor.
“The projects we are launching today will usher in a new era of development, creating opportunities in agriculture, tourism, and technology,” he stated.
Modi noted that India’s economy, which ranked 11th in 2014, now stands at the 5th position and is projected to reach 2nd by 2030.
Modi expressed confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s potential. “The state is on the path to becoming a center of IT and technology. With our combined efforts, Andhra Pradesh will witness unprecedented progress in the coming years.”
