Irrigation schedule for Kharif season released

Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Achchennaidu and Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu held a high-level coordination meeting with senior officials of both departments at the State Secretariat on Monday and released the irrigation schedule for the 2026-27 Kharif season.

The schedule was prepared based on the current water storage available in various irrigation projects across the state. Speaking on the occasion, the ministers stated that emergency works such as desilting, repairs and removal of obstructions in canals are progressing at a cost of Rs 397 crore. They directed officials to complete all these works by the end of May.

Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu highlighted the achievements of the previous season- 99.35 lakh acres irrigated with 888 TMC of water for Kharif season 2025-26 and 23.67 lakh acres irrigated with 153 TMC of water for Rabi season 2025-26. He informed that  461 TMC of water is currently available in major and medium reservoirs for irrigation purposes. He credited Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s efficient water management for maintaining good storage levels.
