HYDRA has cracked down on illegal structures in Manikonda on Friday. It is demolishing encroachments in the Neknampur tank buffer zone. Demolitions are continuing amid heavy police deployment. Hydra personnel, who have razed four villas built in the Neknampur tank buffer zone, are preparing to demolish some more villas.
Despite demolishing them three times, illegal structures have been found again. In this context, Hydra officials are razing the illegal villas that have been found in Neknampur Lake. Hydra has also registered a case against the builders who built the villas.
Hydra officials stepped in after receiving complaints about illegal constructions. These structures were found within the FTL and buffer zone of Neknampur Lake. A few days ago, Hydra Commission Ranganath reached there and inspected the layouts related to Neknampur Lake. After collecting complete details on the extent of the irregularities, the demolitions are continuing based on the report given by the local authorities.
Former Vice President supports HYDRA
Meanwhile, the demolition of illegal structures has received support from unexpected quarters. Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has supported the steps being taken by the Revanth Reddy government under the name 'Hydra' to save the disappearing ponds and lakes in Hyderabad.
However, he suggested that everyone should be treated equally in the matter of demolition of encroachments and that the poor who have suffered due to this should be helped.
He made these remarks while speaking on Thursday at a workshop organized at the Central University of Hyderabad under the title 'Unnat Bharat Abhiyan'. He said that a good country means that not only the people but also the rivers, ponds, forests, cattle and birds should be good.
Venkaiah Naidu said that he is visiting schools, universities and cultural institutions and providing support with the intention of serving the society that has placed him in constitutional positions, coming from a rural middle-class family.
