Hyderabad Traffic Police book 506 for drunk driving

The Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a two-day special drive against drunken driving on February 27 and 28 to enhance road safety across the city. During the intensified enforcement, a total of 506 motorists were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to officials, the majority of offenders were two-wheeler riders, accounting for 401 cases. In addition, 47 three-wheeler drivers and 57 four-wheeler drivers were booked. One driver of another category of vehicle was also found violating the law.

The data revealed varying levels of Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) among those caught. As many as 104 drivers recorded BAC levels between 30–50 mg/100 ml, while 214 cases fell in the 51–100 range. Another 105 drivers registered 101–150 BAC levels. Forty-three motorists had BAC levels between 151–200, while 24 cases were in the 201–250 range. Six drivers recorded 251–300, and 10 motorists were found with BAC levels above 300 mg/100 ml.

Traffic police officials reiterated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunk driving violations. The special enforcement drive will continue in the coming days, and commuters have been urged to cooperate in ensuring safer roads for all.
