Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has reaffirmed that the coalition government will issue the much-awaited DSC (District Selection Committee) notification in March without fail. Responding to questions raised by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) members in the Legislative Council, Lokesh emphasized the government's commitment to addressing the concerns of unemployed youth eagerly waiting for recruitment opportunities in the education sector.

Addressing the council, Lokesh criticized the previous YSRCP government for failing to conduct a single DSC recruitment drive during its five-year tenure. “Not even one teacher post was filled under the YSRCP administration. The opposition must answer why they neglected teacher recruitment for so long,” he stated.

Providing a historical perspective, the minister highlighted that since 1994, a total of 2,60,194 teacher posts have been filled. Out of these, an overwhelming 1,80,272 positions—nearly 70%—were recruited under TDP-led governments. He underscored that upon assuming office as minister, his very first signature was on the DSC-related file, demonstrating the coalition government’s priority for teacher recruitment.

As part of this commitment, the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) was conducted on July 2, 2024, with 4.27 lakh candidates applying. Of these, 3.68 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, and 1.87 lakh successfully qualified. The TET process was concluded between October 3 and October 21, 2024. Lokesh assured that the government is awaiting the One-Man Commission’s report on teacher post categorization, which is expected soon, ensuring a structured and transparent recruitment process.

Reiterating the government’s pledge, Lokesh assured the unemployed youth that the DSC notification would be released in March under any circumstances. “The coalition government takes full responsibility for issuing the notification and fulfilling the aspirations of job seekers. This House bears witness to our commitment,” he stated.
