Global healthcare firms to launch oncology initiatives

Andhra Pradesh has taken a significant step towards strengthening its healthcare and life sciences ecosystem by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies AstraZeneca, Strand Life Sciences and Cure.ai. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

As part of the collaboration, the state will establish India’s first Integrated Precision Oncology initiative in Amaravati, aimed at advancing personalised cancer diagnosis and treatment through genomic medicine and artificial intelligence.

Under the agreement, AstraZeneca India will set up an Integrated Genomic Solutions Centre in Amaravati. The facility will provide advanced genomic profiling and biomarker testing services, particularly for patients with lung cancer and breast cancer. Officials said the centre is expected to enable faster and more accurate diagnosis, allowing clinicians to tailor treatments based on the genetic profile of individual patients.

The partnerships are also expected to leverage the expertise of Strand Life Sciences in genomics and precision medicine, and Cure.ai in artificial intelligence-based medical imaging and diagnostic technologies, to strengthen cancer care and improve clinical decision-making.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said the government’s objective is to make advanced healthcare services accessible and affordable for people across the state. He said the initiative would not only enhance patient care but also position Andhra Pradesh as a hub for innovation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
