Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director Ashok Reddy on Friday stressed the need for timely repair of potholes and greater public participation in water conservation during his visit to Padma Colony in Bagh Lingampalli ward.
Ashok Reddy participated in the ‘Jalamandali–Basti Bata’ programme and inspected water supply in several households under Musheerabad Circle Division-17. During the morning water supply, he interacted with residents and inquired about water quality, supply timings and other issues.
During the inspection, officials found instances of drinking water being used for non-essential purposes. The MD warned that misuse of potable water would attract penalties and even disconnection of water supply if necessary. Acting on his instructions, officials imposed fines on some consumers found wasting water and disconnected a few water connections.
Ashok Reddy also took part in the renovation of rainwater harvesting cisterns at Aditya Apartments in Bagh Lingampalli ward and urged residents to actively participate in water conservation efforts.
