The Future City Development Authority (FCDA) Office Building has become the first government building in Telangana to receive the Indian Green Building Council's (IGBC) Net Zero Energy Certification by Design, marking a significant step in the state's sustainability efforts.

The certification was presented by IGBC National Chairman C. Shekar Reddy to FCDA Commissioner K. Shashanka, IAS, in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the inaugural ceremony held at Future City on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the achievement reflected Telangana's commitment to developing sustainable and environmentally responsible cities. "Public infrastructure must lead by example in adopting green practices and reducing environmental impact," he said, urging stakeholders to embrace net zero building principles.

The FCDA Office has been designed as a Net Zero Energy facility, with 100 per cent of its annual energy consumption offset through a combination of onsite renewable energy generation and offsite green power procurement. The building features a 40 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic system expected to generate nearly 60,000 kWh of renewable energy annually.
