Ensure welfare schemes reach all eligible: SC,ST Commission Chairman

State SC and ST Commission Chairman Bakki Venkatayya has directed officials from all government departments to work in close coordination to ensure that welfare and development schemes for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) reach every eligible beneficiary at the grassroots level. Chairing a review meeting at the District Collectorate on Thursday, Venkatayya stressed the need for timely delivery of benefits. He also instructed officials to expedite the investigation and disposal of pending SC/ST atrocity cases to ensure prompt justice for victims.

The high-level review meeting focused on the implementation of tribal welfare schemes, investigation of atrocity cases, land-related issues, and adherence to reservation rules. Reviewing the welfare programs being implemented by the SC and ST Welfare Department, the Chairman instructed officials to identify eligible beneficiaries and ensure they receive the intended benefits without delay. He also sought detailed information on SC/ST atrocity cases in the district.

SC and ST Commission Chairman Venkatayya called for transparent investigations into SC/ST atrocity cases, completion of inquiries within the prescribed timeframe, and timely payment of compensation to victims .The Chairman also directed officials to observe Civil Rights Day during the last week of every month at the mandal level to create awareness among the public about welfare schemes and legal rights. He further instructed that the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting be conducted once every three months without fail.

Chairman Venkatayya asked officials to ensure adequate employment opportunities for every job card holder under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and to provide all essential facilities in welfare hostels for students. He assured that if any development funds earmarked for the welfare of SCs and STs remain pending, he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister to facilitate their release.
