Metro India News | Hyderabad
Special Chief Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department M. Dana Kishore directed officials to complete the state-wide school uniform stitching programme by August 13, while stressing adherence to quality standards and timely delivery of uniforms to students.
Reviewing the progress of the programme through a State-level video conference on Friday, Dana Kishore interacted with District Rural Development Officers (DRDOs), Project Directors of the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), District Project Managers (DPMs), Assistant Project Managers (APMs) and other field-level officials.
Taking stock of district-wise progress, he asked officials to intensify stitching operations and work in mission mode to meet the deadline. He directed districts to mobilise an adequate number of SHG women tailors and bulk cutters and organise bulk-cutting training wherever required.
Dana Kishore instructed officials to begin school-wise bulk cutting immediately after the fabric reaches the mandal point so that stitching work continues without interruption. He also asked DRDOs and Project Directors of MEPMA to coordinate with Regional Coordinating Officers (RCOs) and District Coordinating Officers (DCOs) to ensure the prompt supply of the remaining cloth in districts that have received only partial consignments.
Emphasising quality, the Special Chief Secretary said every uniform must conform to the prescribed standards. He instructed district officials to ensure that the uniforms are durable, properly stitched and supplied to students within the stipulated timeframe.
He also directed DRDOs, Project Directors of MEPMA and field-level functionaries to monitor progress on a daily basis, address operational bottlenecks without delay and take all necessary steps to complete the programme as scheduled.
Officials from the Rural Development and MEPMA departments across all districts participated in the review meeting through video conference and presented updates on the progress of stitching activities and the measures being taken to expedite the programme.
