This World Earth Day, Deccan Woods & Trails came alive with purpose and passion. Set against the lush backdrop of the 275-acre Botanical Garden, the day began with a serene bird walk that revealed over 30 species of resident and local migratory birds - each a feathered reminder of the biodiversity we’re lucky to call home. But Earth Day wasn’t just about observing nature - it was about understanding our role in protecting it.

What followed was a powerful and eye-opening talk led by Akshay Desh Pandey from Switcheko, joined by the dedicated team from TGFDC. The message was clear and compelling: it's time to Switch to an eco-friendly life - to reuse, recycle, and reduce.

From plastic bottles transformed into T-shirts, cigarette butts converted to paper, to water hyacinth woven into sarees - every example told a story of innovation, sustainability, and hope. These aren’t just solutions; they’re reminders that waste is only wasted when we fail to reimagine it.

TGFDC Executive Director, Eco-Tourism L. Ranjith Nayak IFS said, "This year, the theme "Our Power, Our Planet" resonates deeply, emphasizing the collective responsibility of individuals, businesses, and governments to transition to renewable energy and create a sustainable future". Assistant Director Eco-Tourism, Thanuja, FRO Srinivas, PM Lakshmareddy, Projects Manager Suman, Head Naturalist Akhil, Naturalist Aparanjani were present.
