In a decisive stride toward establishing India’s first Quantum Computing Village, the Government of Andhra Pradesh convened a high-level meeting on Tuesday at the State Secretariat, under the leadership of the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS). The meeting marks a major milestone in advancing the ambitious project announced for Amaravati.

The 50-acre Quantum Computing Village, envisioned as a global hub for quantum research, innovation, and collaboration, aims to place India at the forefront of next-generation computing. The session focused on detailed infrastructure planning, ecosystem development, and technical integration to drive the project forward.

Top representatives from IBM, TCS, and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) participated in the discussions. A key highlight was the proposal for an Iconic Building, to be constructed by L&T, that will serve as the centerpiece of the village. This landmark facility will house state-of-the-art quantum computing systems, including the IBM Quantum System Two, and is designed with long-term expansion potential.

Bhaskar Katamneni, Secretary of RTGS, outlined the vision for a cutting-edge collaborative environment. “This Quantum Village will be a world-class facility, India’s window to the future of computing,” he said. He further detailed the village's infrastructure, which includes a dedicated on-site data centre to support high-performance and quantum computing needs. IBM and TCS will jointly finalise the technical specifications of the facility in the coming weeks.

Pradyumna, Special Secretary, emphasized the directive from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to fast-track the project, ensuring swift and efficient execution. “The Chief Minister has been clear in his vision, Amaravati must emerge as a beacon of technological innovation,” he added.

Patryk Gumann, representative from IBM Quantum (USA), delivered a comprehensive presentation on the IBM Quantum System Two and held in-depth technical consultations with L&T engineers and state officials to align on the infrastructure and deployment roadmap.

The meeting was attended by key industry leaders,Indrajit Mitra, Vice President & Head of Research, L&T Mindtree; Vijayan, Chief Architect, L&T; G. Ramakrishna, CFO, AP Cluster, L&T; C.V. Sridhar, Head – Academics, COIN & India Strategic Initiative; L. Venkata Subramaniam, Head, IBM Quantum, India.
