Drone technology used for ecological restoration at Singareni

SkyEarth Innovation Pvt. Ltd. has launched a drone-based seed broadcasting initiative across degraded and difficult-to-access areas of Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) RG-1 Area as part of its “Seeding for a Greener Tomorrow” program.As part of the pilot project, around 10 acres of degraded overburden dump slopes at MOCP and OC-5 were covered using drones. More than 40 kg of selected seeds, including Acacia, Gliricidia, Sesbania, Crotalaria juncea and Red Gram, were aerially broadcast to support vegetation growth, erosion control and slope stabilization.

The initiative aims to address areas affected by rill and gully erosion where conventional plantation methods are difficult due to steep terrain and limited accessibility. The project is being implemented in collaboration with SCCL’s forestry and mine-level teams. SkyEarth Innovation CEO Shashank Taman said the company was committed to applying innovative environmental technologies to promote sustainable restoration and responsible industrial practices. The company has also deployed a dust extraction machine at GDK-1 Incline CHP-1 for a free trial.
