Bandaru Dattatreya pays tributes to Chakali Ailamma

Demands SC status for Rajaka community

Former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya paid rich tributes to Telangana freedom fighter Chakali Ailamma at her statue at Lower Tank Bund here on Saturday, marking her birth anniversary. Dattatreya recalled Ailamma’s courage in resisting the oppressive practices of landlords and fighting for land, dignity and the rights of the poor. He said her opposition to autocratic rule and 'vetti chakiri' (forced labour)  reflected the spirit and self-respect of the people of Telangana.

Describing Ailamma as a symbol of women’s courage and social resistance, he said her role in the Telangana armed struggle would remain an enduring inspiration for future generations. He called for greater efforts towards equality, social justice and self-respect.

Dattatreya also urged the government to address the demands of the Rajaka community, including inclusion in the Scheduled Castes list, installation of a statue of Chakali Ailamma on Tank Bund, construction of the Rajaka community building at Medipally, hostel facilities for students and a specialised healthcare scheme.

Justice Surepalli Nanda of Telangana High Court, BJP City General Secretary Mallampeta Ramesh Ram, Telangana Rajaka Development Corporation Chairman Narsimha, General Secretary Jupalli Rajasekhar and other prominent persons attended the programme.
