Dr. Kota Neelima, Vice President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee and Congress In-charge of Sanathnagar Constituency, has requested the GHMC Commissioner, Shri R.V. Karnan, to reconsider the proposed flyover alignment from Pattigadda Colony to Rasoolpura Junction. She met the Commissioner along with local residents and submitted a formal representation urging a plan that reduces public hardship.
Dr. Neelima highlighted that the current proposed alignment from Necklace Road to Pattigadda could adversely affect hundreds of families in Pattigadda Colony. According to her, the construction may lead to the demolition of more than 40 residential houses and threaten several heritage structures in the area.
She informed the Commissioner that, following concerns raised by local residents, an alternative alignment has been mapped out and formally submitted for consideration. Dr. Neelima emphasized that the authorities should explore this alternative, which would protect the homes of economically weaker sections and preserve heritage sites, while still ensuring smooth traffic flow.
Local residents, along with Begumpet Division Congress leaders and party workers, joined the meeting to support the demand for a people-friendly solution. Dr. Neelima appealed to the GHMC to adopt a revised plan that balances urban development with the welfare of residents, stressing the importance of a humane approach in planning infrastructure projects.
Residents expressed hope that the authorities would take immediate steps to review the proposal and implement a flyover alignment that addresses public concerns without displacing families or compromising heritage structures.
This move reflects growing public attention on urban development projects and the need for inclusive planning in Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding cityscape.
