Houston: Four Indian Americans, including cybersecurity executive Nikesh Arora (R) and Harvard University professor Mahzarin Banaji, have been named to the Carnegie Corporation of New York’s Great Immigrants, Great Americans list for 2026. The other honourees are Harvard Medical School professor Dr Sanjiv Chopra (2nd L) and Vertex Pharmaceuticals President and CEO Reshma Kewalramani (L).
The 2026 list comprises 25 naturalised US citizens from 21 countries and will be recognised as part of the Carnegie Corporation’s annual Fourth of July campaign celebrating immigrants’ contributions to the US. Arora, Chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks, was born in UP. Hyderabad-born Banaji is known for her pioneering research on implicit bias. Delhi-born Chopra is a liver disease specialist and educator, while Mumbai-born Kewalramani heads Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Previous desi recipients include Abhijit Banerjee, Ashish Kumar Jha, Gita Gopinath, Vivek Murthy, Shantanu Narayen and Sundar Pichai. —PTI
