Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Thursday distributed financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to 50 candidates selected for the UPSC Civil Services Mains examination at Praja Bhavan.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhay Hastham Scheme, under which all candidates qualifying for the Mains and Interview stages receive financial aid, regardless of numbers. ‘The more candidates from Telangana succeed, the better it is for the state,’ he said, adding that the support helps cover essential expenses such as coaching, books, and travel.
The scheme, launched under Singareni’s aegis, provides Rs 1 lakh to Mains qualifiers and another Rs 1 lakh with accommodation for Interview-stage candidates. Last year, 20 candidates reached the interview stage, with seven ultimately selected for the Civil Services. This year, around 202 candidates cleared Mains, and 50 reached the final interviews, reflecting the scheme’s growing impact.
The Deputy CM encouraged candidates to prepare diligently, make full use of coaching resources, and remain committed to serving Telangana and the nation. He also assured a Telangana government representative in Delhi to assist candidates during interviews.
State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Singareni CMD N Balaram, and senior officials attended the programme. Balaram noted the scheme’s success in enabling economically weaker candidates to focus on preparation. During the event, Bhatti also unveiled the Singareni Brand Shawl and a memento celebrating Telangana’s culture and Singareni’s progress.
