Defence and aerospace clusters to come up in AP

The defence and aerospace manufacturing comprises 61%. The Andhra Pradesh Government aims to contribute to bridge this gap by strengthening the industrial ecosystem said Vijayawada MP and Defence Parliamentary Standing Committee member Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) at a seminar held in Vijayawada on Monday.

The MP highlighted that the Defence and Aerospace Manufacturing Hub Policy would be designed to attract top-tier investments and cater to the needs of industries, aiming for the highest standards seen nationwide. “Our goal is not just to develop industries, but to create jobs and foster economic growth across the state,” he added.

The seminar, organized by the State Industries Department, was part of an initiative to design a comprehensive Defence and Aerospace Manufacturing Hub Policy and develop industrial clusters across Andhra Pradesh. The MP expressed optimism that with the expertise of distinguished advisors like Dr. Satheesh Reddy and S. Somanath, Andhra Pradesh would soon emerge as a leading hub for defence and aerospace industries in India.

The seminar witnessed the participation of seven Defence Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) out of the seventeen across India, with several others extending their support to the initiative. Representatives from major organizations such as Goa Shipyard, Hindustan Shipyard, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), as well as private companies operating in the Hyderabad defence sector, attended the event.

Former DRDO Chairman and AP Aerospace and Defence Manufacturing Hub Honorary Advisor Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, former ISRO Chairman and AP Space Technology Honorary Advisor S. Somanath, I&C and FP Secretary N. Yuvraj (IAS), Industries Director M. Abhishek Kishore (IAS), and General Officer Commanding Ajay Mishra took part in the seminar.
