CEO directs officials to expedite SIR verification and uploading

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sudarshan Reddy directed officials to collect verification documents through door-to-door visits as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and upload them online immediately.

He stressed the need to carry out the process swiftly, systematically and without errors. On Wednesday, the CEO, along with District Collector Manu Choudhary, inspected the ongoing SIR process in Pragathi Nagar areas of Kukatpally mandal, particularly the document verification and online uploading process.

During the inspection, Sudarshan Reddy personally reviewed the procedures for voter verification, submission of documents prescribed by the Election Commission, field-level assistance, scrutiny of records and the verification process. He instructed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to mandatorily visit households to collect verification documents and directed supervisors to accompany them and monitor the process.

The CEO also examined the process through which BLOs were uploading the verification documents online and instructed them to upload the documents immediately after receiving them. When he asked the BLOs about the documents most frequently being submitted by voters, they said SSC memos and passports were among the documents being submitted in large numbers.

Sudarshan Reddy directed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), supervisors and BLOs across the district to conduct the SIR process strictly in accordance with the prescribed rules and ensure that it is transparent, systematic and expeditious.He instructed officials to pay special attention to the verification of documents so that details of all eligible voters are recorded accurately and systematically.

He also called for adequate deployment of staff to complete the exercise within the stipulated deadline and directed officials to work with daily targets, standard operating procedures and a comprehensive action plan.

The CEO further reviewed arrangements for hearings, scrutiny of applications and disposal of objections, and directed the concerned officials to ensure that all stages of the process were carried out transparently and efficiently in accordance with the rules. Kukatpally Zonal Commissioner Mayank Singh, Kukatpally Tahsildar Ashok, Deputy Commissioner, EROs, AEROs, supervisors, BLOs and other officials participated in the inspection.
