Remembering Sushant Singh Rajput

On June 14, 2020, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence in Bandra’s Mont Blanc Apartments, sending shockwaves across India and triggering one of the most closely watched investigations in the country’s entertainment history. Rajput, who was 34, had built a remarkable career from television to Bollywood, earning acclaim through films such as Kai Po Che!, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and Chhichhore. 

What initially appeared to be a tragic death soon evolved into a national controversy. Questions surrounding the circumstances of Rajput’s death fuelled widespread speculation on social media, with online campaigns demanding a deeper investigation, and his girlfriend actress Rhea Chakraborty being blamed too.

In 2025, the CBI filed closure reports stating that it had found no evidence of foul play and ruled out allegations made against Rhea Chakraborty and others during the course of the investigation.

Six years later, while debate surrounding the case continues, Rajput is remembered by many for his journey from engineering student and television actor to one of Bollywood’s most admired stars.
