Inspired by the philosophy “If we protect trees, trees will protect us,” the life of Daripalli Ramaiah—popularly known as “Chettla Ramaiah”—has been portrayed in the short film Vanajeevi Ramaiah. A Padma Shri awardee, Ramaiah dedicated his life to planting trees.

The 40-minute film, produced by Busam Ravindranath under the B.R. Movies banner and directed by Nandi Award-winning Vemuganti, carries the tagline “Vruksho Rakshati Rakshitah.” It won the First Best Short Film award at the Gaddar Awards, along with a ₹5 lakh cash prize, gaining wide appreciation across the Telugu states.

Ravindranath, also an MPTC from Proddatur and a real estate businessman, expressed joy over the film’s success and is now preparing for his second project. Passionate about cinema since childhood, he also appeared in a small role in the film.

He thanked the entire team, especially Brahmaji, who impressed audiences in the lead role. Ravindranath said appreciation from Chiranjeevi and M. Venkaiah Naidu boosted his confidence. Recalling a meeting, he said Chiranjeevi encouraged him to dream big, inspiring his future plans.
