Telangana BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, highlighting the enduring relevance of Bhagwan Mahavir’s teachings in Indian society.

Speaking as chief guest at the 2625th Bhagwan Mahavir Janma Kalyanak Mahotsav held in Secunderabad and organised by the Mahavir Jain Seva Sangh, Rao said it is a matter of pride to remember Mahavir’s invaluable guidance rooted in truth, non-violence and compassion.

He emphasised that Mahavir’s message transcends the Jain community and has become an integral part of Indian civilisation. “Whenever truth and non-violence are discussed in India, Bhagwan Mahavir’s name naturally comes to the forefront. The path he showed centuries ago continues to inspire society and the nation”, he noted.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rao said that the Prime Minister had recently praised the Jain community’s environmentally conscious lifestyle, calling it a model for the world. Jain literature in Prakrit and Pali holds a vast treasure of knowledge, and efforts by the Union government to grant Classical Language status to these languages reflect respect for this ancient heritage, he added.
