More than 220 nursing professionals from healthcare institutions participated in the Critical Care Nursing Workshop 2026 organized by Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute as part of the 6th World Conference on Comprehensive Critical Care (W4C 2026). Led by Dr. Basanth Kumar Rayani, Head of the Department of Onco Anaesthesia, the workshop combined scientific sessions with practical demonstrations and supervised skills training aimed at strengthening nurses’ preparedness for critical care settings. Dr. Rajeswari Muppidi, President of the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI), Telangana, attended the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest.
The scientific sessions covered delirium recognition and management, nutrition for critically ill patients, end-of-life care, early warning signs, patient mobilization, stoma care and the management of vulnerable patients. Practical training formed a major part of the workshop, with participants receiving exposure to ventilator settings, oxygen therapy, airway management and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation through interactive respiratory workstations and supervised skill stations. The sessions highlighted nurses’ role in identifying early signs of deterioration and responding promptly to changes in patients’ conditions. The program concluded with participant feedback, a post-workshop assessment and certificate distribution.
