Auto driver foils chain snatching bid

A CCTV footage from Hyderabad has highlighted the brave act of an auto driver who intervened to stop a chain snatching attempt. The incident took place during a morning walk when a woman was targeted by a rowdy sheeter who tried to snatch her gold chain and flee on a two-wheeler.

The auto driver, Muhammad Zaheer, noticed the incident while passing through the area. He saw the attack through his side-view mirror and immediately reacted. Even after moving ahead by nearly 100 meters, he quickly turned his auto back towards the scene. In a daring move, he rammed his vehicle into the fleeing suspect’s bike, forcing him to fall on the road.

The accused allegedly tried to attack him with a stick, but the driver did not step back and continued to restrain him, preventing his escape. His timely action delayed the suspect until a police patrol team reached the spot and arrested him.

The entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras, which later helped police identify the driver through vehicle details. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar honoured Muhammad Zaheer with a cash reward and appreciation certificate, praising his courage and calling him a role model for society.
