Apollo Hospitals marks ‘World Hand Surgery Day’

Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, marked World Hand Surgery Day by honoring survivors whose lives were transformed through advanced hand and microsurgical procedures, highlighting the critical role of timely intervention in saving limbs and restoring function. The program, held at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, on Saturday, brought together hand surgery survivors, doctors and healthcare professionals to showcase successful outcomes achieved through complex replantation and reconstructive procedures.

Shivam Upadhyaya, DCP Traffic, Future City, who attended the event as the Chief Guest, felicitated the survivors and appreciated their courage and determination in overcoming severe injuries and regaining mobility. Dr Gopinath Bandari, Consultant Hand, Wrist and Microsurgeon, said replantation was a race against time and required specialized expertise, advanced technology and close coordination among multidisciplinary teams. Dr Bandi Sahithya, another consultant microsurgeon, said microsurgical replantation demanded precision, expertise and speed.

Tejesvi Rao Veerepalli, CEO, Apollo Hospitals, Telugu States, said that Apollo Hospitals was committed to combining advanced medical technology with clinical expertise to restore function and help patients return to normal life. One of the survivors, who suffered an elbow-level amputation following a traumatic accident, shared his experience of undergoing complex replantation surgery at Apollo Hospitals. He gradually regained movement and functional ability in the affected limb following treatment.
