In a bid to rejuvenate the film industry in Andhra Pradesh, State Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography, Kandula Durgesh, announced that the coalition government will soon unveil a new film policy. He emphasized that the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, is committed to providing necessary incentives for the development of the cinema sector.

Minister Durgesh made these remarks on Sunday while attending the muhurat ceremony of the film Western Love, produced by Varahi Arts and Shakti Creations, held at Sri Sesha Sai Kalyana Vedika, Vijayawada. The Minister gave the ceremonial first clap for the film and later addressed the media.

Highlighting the potential of Andhra Pradesh as a film-shooting destination, Durgesh said, “The state has suitable locations for film shoots, yet our existing studios remain underutilized.” He noted that although large-scale shootings are taking place in AP, the state still lacks essential infrastructure such as high-end studios, recording and re-recording theatres, akin to those in Hyderabad.

He stressed that the development of the film industry would not only boost the economy but also generate employment opportunities for local youth and technicians. Durgesh said consultations are already underway with producers to draft a comprehensive film policy, and the framework is in the final stages. “We will announce the policy soon,” he added.
