Metro India News | AMARAVATI :

In a move aimed at enhancing accessibility and efficiency in healthcare services, the Andhra Pradesh government has introduced digital access to medical services through WhatsApp. As part of its expanding e-governance initiatives, the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (AMC) has made its services available via the ‘Mana Mitra’ platform.

Under the new system, both citizens and medical professionals can access a range of services by simply sending a “Hi” message to the dedicated WhatsApp number 9552300009. Users are then guided through an interactive menu, where selecting the ‘Health Department’ option provides seamless access to relevant services.

For doctors, the platform offers real-time access to registration details, application status, upcoming Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes, and credit point information. This is expected to significantly reduce administrative delays and improve transparency in regulatory processes.

For the general public, the service enables quick access to critical healthcare information. Citizens can check outpatient (OP) services in government hospitals, availability of blood in blood banks, and the stock position of essential medicines and surgical supplies. This real-time information is designed to help patients make informed decisions and reduce uncertainty during medical emergencies.

Officials say the integration of AMC services with WhatsApp reflects the state’s push towards citizen-centric governance using widely accessible digital platforms. By bringing essential healthcare services onto a single, user-friendly interface, the government aims to bridge information gaps and improve service delivery.
