Congress calls for unity, urges MPs to fight for State's rights
Deputy CM was critical of the previous BRS regime of not doing enough in the last 10 years in regards to resolving pending issues with the Centre.
The All-party meeting held by the Congress government, under the chairmanship of Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka at Praja Bhavan today, discussed 28 issues pertaining to the state. BJP MPs including the two union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay and BRS Rajya Sabha MPs skipped the meeting. Elaborating details, Bhatti called upon all MPs, representing various parties, to join hands and work in coordination so that the state could get support and due allocations from the Union government.
He said that this all-party meeting was convened in view of the parliament sessions so that MPs of all parties could strive to resolve pending issues with the Centre regarding the state. He said that the two union ministers from Telangana informed them of their unavailability for today's meeting. We will try to hold one more all-party meeting again on this issue, Bhatti hinted.
Deputy CM was critical of the previous BRS regime of not doing enough in the last 10 years in regards to resolving pending issues with the Centre. He said that after coming to power from December 2023 onwards, the Congress government left no stone unturned to mount pressure on the Centre on this issue. Bhatti said that officials gave a PowerPoint presentation explaining the pending issues with the Centre for the last 10 years.
MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi lamented the Union government's biased attitude in funds allocation to states.
Telangana has already submitted proposals regarding RRR, Musi Rejuvenation, increased quota of IPS officers to name a few. He said that MIM will continue to support the Congress government inside parliament and outside for Telangana rights. Congress Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs attended the meeting. Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said that they will raise the Telangana issue in question hour and also give adjournment motions in the parliament sessions.
Meeting communication very late: Kishan Reddy
Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Secunderabad MP G Kishan Reddy wrote a letter to Bhatti Vikramarka that BJP MPs were unable to attend due to communication given at the eleventh hour as all of them had engagements related to Women's Day on Saturday. He appealed to Bhatti to inform well in advance for such crucial meetings. Bhatti made phone calls to the union ministers personally on Friday evening, extending invites for the all-party meeting. Telangana BJP is committed to the development of Telangana, Kishan Reddy stressed. Meanwhile, 4 BRS MPs K R Suresh Reddy, V Ravichandra, Parthasaradhi Reddy and Damodar Rao also abstained from the meeting.
