The Andhra Pradesh government's AI-powered RTGS CCTV360 surveillance platform has helped police recover 80 stolen vehicles, trace 73 missing persons and arrest 52 accused in various criminal cases over the past four months, officials said on Monday. The Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) has integrated over 14,750 CCTV cameras across the state through the CCTV360 platform, enabling police to analyse vehicle movements, identify travel patterns, generate real-time alerts and speed up investigations using artificial intelligence.

According to the government, the technology has significantly improved crime detection, investigation and public safety. In a recent case in Guntur, a scooter stolen from the Pattabhipuram police station limits was traced after its registration number was uploaded into the system. CCTV360 detected the vehicle at a major junction, generated an instant alert and enabled police to intercept the suspect. During questioning, the accused confessed to stealing seven other vehicles, helping police solve multiple theft cases. The platform also played a crucial role in tracing a six-month-old infant abducted from Chirala in Bapatla district while the child's mother was asleep on a pavement. By analysing footage from multiple CCTV cameras, investigators tracked the suspect's movements, arrested the accused within 24 hours and rescued the infant safely.

Officials said the AI system continuously monitors registered stolen vehicles across the integrated surveillance network and alerts police whenever they pass through connected CCTV points, reducing investigation time and improving recovery rates.

Besides assisting in vehicle theft investigations in Vijayawada, Nandigama and other districts, CCTV360 has helped solve several long-pending cases. It has also proved effective in tracing missing persons, including a woman missing for an extended period in Mylavaram, a missing girl in SR Peta and another person whose vehicle movement was detected in Reddigudem. The government said the platform demonstrates how artificial intelligence can strengthen policing, governance and public safety.
