The development of the Zahirabad Industrial Smart City will be completed by March 2028, with the Telangana government targeting investments of around Rs 15,000 crore and employment opportunities for nearly two lakh people, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said.
The Minister made the announcement while participating virtually from the Telangana Secretariat on Monday in a meeting of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), chaired from New Delhi by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. Chief Ministers and Industries Ministers from various States participated in the video conference.
The Zahirabad Industrial Smart City is being developed over 3,245 acres and is envisioned as a major industrial and manufacturing hub in Telangana. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for nearly two lakh people, Sridhar Babu said.
He said the Telangana government has a 51 per cent stake in the project in the form of land, while the Central government is providing financial support for the development of the industrial corridor.
The Minister said the development plan has already been submitted to the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) and works are progressing under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model. All infrastructure works will be completed within the committed timelines, he said.
The tendering process for water supply infrastructure has already been completed, while works related to power supply will also be completed within the stipulated timeframe, Sridhar Babu said.
Seeking greater support for Telangana's industrial expansion, the Minister urged Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to allocate four of the 100 Plug-and-Play Industrial Parks announced under the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana (BHAVYA) to Telangana.
Sridhar Babu said the allocation of Plug-and-Play industrial parks would further strengthen Telangana's industrial ecosystem and help accelerate investments, manufacturing activity and employment generation in the State.
TGIIC Managing Director Shashanka, Industries Department Special Secretary Krishna Aditya, Industries Commissioner Nikhil Chakravarthy and other senior officials participated in the video conference.
