Water Board MD Ashok Reddy visited the construction site of the Sunkishala project at Nagarjuna Sagar. He along with the officials of the Water Board visited the project works on Wednesday and took stock of the pipeline expansion works.
Agency officials have been advised to pay special attention to the pipe expansion works. Speaking on the occasion, the MD said that at present, civil, tunnel, electrical and pipeline works are going on and of these, tunnel and electrical works have reached the final stage.
Officials have been instructed to take steps to complete the work of removing the debris of the retaining wall at the earliest. MD Ashok Reddy inspected the area where the retaining wall of the Sunkisala tunnel gate was tilted to one side. The officials were asked about the progress of the removal of the debris. Officials have been instructed to speed up the work of removal of cement debris. The MD also told the representatives of the construction company that the designs related to the reconstruction should be submitted immediately.
He said that the side wall reconstruction works to be completed by setting timelines and reviewing the progress of the works. Generally, Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir has 131 tmc of water in dead storage and can be used as long as 510 ft of water is available.
The government has taken up the construction of Sunkishala project to avoid drinking water scarcity even in summer. The water in Nagarjuna Sagar has fallen to dead storage. Drinking water can be provided to the city through this project. Project Director TV Sridhar, CGM Mahesh, GMs, Project officials and representatives of construction companies were present on the occasion.
