Warsh remarks, earnings to drive market sentiment

Global markets are expected to take cues from the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision and Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference on Wednesday (2:30 pm ET/12:00 midnight IST), alongside developments in the West Asia conflict and a busy corporate earnings calendar, with analysts expecting these factors to shape investor sentiment.

While the Federal Reserve is widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged, investors will closely scrutinise Warsh's remarks for fresh guidance on inflation, economic growth and the future path of monetary policy.

Analysts said any escalation in the US-Iran conflict or disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz could drive crude oil prices higher, influencing inflation expectations and global risk appetite.

On the domestic front, investors will also monitor June Industrial Production data for fresh clues on the strength of the Indian economy.   Corporate earnings will remain another key focus, with Coal India, BEL, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever, Adani Enterprises, Asian Paints, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, M&M, Tata Steel, Maruti, ITC and Sun Pharma scheduled to announce their quarterly results.

Last week, the BSE Sensex fell 2.67%, while the NSE Nifty declined 2.32%, reflecting cautious investor sentiment amid global uncertainties.

Following Kevin Warsh's remarks on Wednesday, investor focus will quickly shift to the RBI's Monetary Policy Committee decision on 5 August.
