Prices of key pulses remained largely steady across major markets on Wednesday, although tur recorded gains in some centres due to improved demand from millers and traders. Tur prices in Akola, Maharashtra, rose by ₹50 to ₹7,950-7,975 per 100 kg. Traders said fresh buying by millers and higher import prices from Myanmar supported the rise.

Similar gains were seen in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, where tur prices increased by ₹50 to ₹8,100-8,200 per 100 kg. Market participants said tur sowing is yet to begin in Maharashtra, with the main sowing window expected in the second half of June.

Traders believe the slightly delayed monsoon is unlikely to affect acreage significantly as the crop requires comparatively lower rainfall and can perform well with periodic showers. Chana prices remained stable in major markets. In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, chana traded at ₹6,075-6,100 per 100 kg, unchanged from previous levels. Traders said arrivals remain slightly higher as farmers continue selling stocks to fund purchases of seeds, fertilisers and other inputs ahead of the kharif season.
