In a historic move, the Governments of Telangana and Rajasthan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a joint venture company for advancing power generation in both states. This strategic collaboration, signed between Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) of Telangana and Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL), marks a significant step towards energy security and sustainability.

The agreement, signed in Jaipur in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, along with key officials, paves the way for developing 1,600 MW of thermal power in Telangana and 1,500 MW of solar power in Rajasthan, with a total investment of Rs 26,200 crores.

Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu lauded the agreement as a transformative initiative, emphasizing its role in fostering collaborative governance and sustainable energy planning. The integration of cost-effective solar power will significantly reduce generation costs, benefiting both states. As per the partnership, SCCL will hold a 74% equity share, while RVUNL will hold 26% equity in the proposed joint venture. This initiative aims to ensure affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity for consumers while enhancing inter-state cooperation in power generation.

This collaboration enables SCCL to enhance base-load thermal power capacity while significantly reducing generation costs by integrating cost-effective solar energy during daylight hours. The initiative aims to provide affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity to consumers in Telangana.

Swift implementation of these projects will be prioritized, with both states looking forward to deepening their cooperation in the energy sector to drive economic growth and meet the evolving power needs of their citizens. This MoU signifies a new era of cooperation, ensuring long-term power availability and fostering economic growth for both states.
