Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sought the Centre's support and expeditious approvals for a series of strategically important infrastructure, irrigation, transportation and education projects aimed at accelerating Telangana's long term development.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of effectively utilising Godavari river waters to meet the State's future irrigation and drinking water requirements. He requested the Centre's assistance in facilitating discussions with the Maharashtra government to ensure optimal utilisation of Godavari waters for Telangana.

Revanth Reddy also urged the Prime Minister to approve the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase II project. He informed that proposals worth ₹38,595 crore had been submitted for the expansion of the Metro network across seven corridors covering 122.9 kilometres. The Chief Minister requested that the project be sanctioned as a joint venture between the Centre and the State government.

The Chief Minister sought immediate approval for the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road project. He stated that the State government had already agreed to bear 50 per cent of the land acquisition cost for the northern section and released ₹626 crore to the National Highways Authority of India. More than 90 per cent of land acquisition awards for the northern corridor have already been completed, he noted.

Emphasising the significance of the southern section of the Regional Ring Road, Revanth Reddy said the Choutuppal to Sangareddy corridor would greatly strengthen transportation infrastructure around Hyderabad. He requested simultaneous approval and implementation of both the northern and southern corridors.

The Chief Minister also pressed for approval of the proposed Hyderabad, Amaravati, Bandar Port Expressway, describing the 12 lane corridor as a strategically important project that would provide landlocked Telangana with seamless port connectivity and boost exports from the pharmaceutical, electronics and food processing sectors.

Revanth Reddy further sought early commencement of works on the Warangal Airport project, stating that the required land had already been acquired and handed over to the Airports Authority of India. He said the airport would significantly benefit northern Telangana's industrial, educational and tourism sectors.

The Chief Minister also requested the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management in Hyderabad, assuring that the State government was ready to allocate 200 acres of land for the institution. Later in the evening, CM met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the latter's residence.

Revanth calls for special fund for six Mega Cities

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reiterated his proposal for the creation of an “M6 Task Force” under the Prime Minister’s Office to accelerate the development of six major metropolitan cities—Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru—which serve as key engines of India’s economic growth.

Participating in the 11th Governing Council meeting of the NITI Aayog chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Chief Minister proposed a special fund of ₹6 lakh crore for the six cities, with ₹1 lakh crore allocated to each city for infrastructure creation and urban development.

Seeking greater Central support for Telangana, Revanth Reddy urged the Union Government to extend assistance for the Regional Ring Road, Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase II, Musi River rejuvenation, Bharat Future City, approvals for the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, semiconductor manufacturing projects and the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management in Hyderabad.

Addressing the meeting on the theme of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Chief Minister stressed that quality education and healthcare are the strongest foundations for national development. Referring to Telangana’s Social, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste Survey, he said educational attainment emerged as a more decisive factor than land ownership in addressing social backwardness.

He highlighted Telangana’s education reforms, including English medium instruction, digital classrooms, free breakfast and meals, school transport and integrated campuses from nursery to intermediate level. He said the proposed Young India Residential Schools would promote social integration and equality across communities.

The Chief Minister also outlined Telangana’s efforts to prepare youth for the AI era through the Young India Skills University, modernization of ITIs with Tata Technologies and investments in advanced skill development. Reaffirming the Telangana Rising vision, he said the State aims to become a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
