In a major initiative aimed at strengthening public service delivery and improving administrative infrastructure, Telangana Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the State Government has decided to construct permanent buildings for Tahsildar, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) and Sub Registrar offices across the State.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Revenue, Housing and Registration Departments at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Minister said the new buildings would be constructed through the Housing Corporation in line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of providing citizens with dignified and efficient government services.
The Minister reviewed details of offices currently functioning from rented premises and those housed in dilapidated or inadequate buildings. He said government offices serving the public should have permanent infrastructure and modern facilities.
As part of the first phase, the government will construct permanent buildings for 125 Tahsildar offices and 11 RDO offices that are currently operating from rented or unsuitable premises. Officials have been directed to immediately identify suitable land and prepare action plans for expediting construction. Necessary repairs to existing buildings will also be taken up based on departmental reports.
Ponguleti stated that all new buildings would follow a uniform design model across the State, ensuring accessibility. He noted that the present government has strengthened administration by sanctioning required posts in newly created mandals.
Highlighting developments in the Registration Department, Ponguleti said integrated Sub Registrar office complexes with modern facilities are already being developed. Thirty-nine Sub Registrar offices within the Outer Ring Road region have been grouped into 12 clusters for construction of integrated facilities. Foundation works have already commenced at Gachibowli, Medchal Malkajgiri, Patancheru and Koheda. He further announced that two DIG offices, four District Registrar offices and 52 Sub Registrar offices will be built under a standardised model with built-up areas ranging from 4,000 to 10,000 square feet.
