Telangana has offered technological cooperation and institutional support to assist Tanzania in its efforts to transition into a digital economy,  IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said. The Minister made the offer during a meeting with a high-level delegation led by Mudrick Ramadhani Soraga, Tanzania’s Minister for Communication, ICT and Innovation, at the Secretariat here on Saturday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Telangana and Tanzania across a range of sectors.  Highlighting the State’s progress in digital transformation, he said Telangana had built a strong reputation for technology-driven governance and innovation.“Digital transformation has become a key driver of inclusive social and economic growth. Telangana is willing to share its experience, technical expertise and institutional knowledge to support Tanzania’s efforts to build a digital economy,” Sridhar Babu said.

He noted that Telangana could serve as a knowledge partner in areas such as citizen service delivery through MeeSeva, promotion of women entrepreneurship through WE Hub, and strengthening startup and innovation ecosystems. Support could also be extended for skilling, reskilling and upskilling programmes through the Young India Skills University, he added. Sridhar Babu also said Telangana would study best practices adopted by Tanzania in sectors such as the blue economy and tourism and explore their relevance for the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Soraga said Tanzania was keen to work closely with progressive regions such as Telangana to advance its digital economy ambitions. He said the State’s achievements in IT, healthcare, medical tourism, digital governance, startups and life sciences were inspiring. He added that Tanzania would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telangana to formalize cooperation.
