The State government has transferred the investigation of the kidney racket case, which surfaced at Alaknanda Hospital in the city, to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha has authorised this action and has called for a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.

Concurrently, the police are actively conducting their own investigation. Special teams are currently pursuing the suspects involved. To date, the police have apprehended eight individuals, including the hospital’s chairman, Sumanth, and another suspect named Gopi. Both Sumanth and Gopi have been presented before the judge.

In a related incident linked to the previous kidney racket case, law enforcement arrested an individual on Tuesday, gathering names and phone numbers of several persons through this individual who played a role in facilitating kidney donors and recipients from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It has been reported that the initial investigation has revealed that kidney transplant surgeries have previously been conducted at Alakananda Hospital.

A minimum of 15 to 20 medical personnel, including doctors and support staff, is essential for the successful execution of these surgeries. In addition to the physicians, it is necessary to have nurses and technicians available in both the Intensive Care Unit and the operating room before and after the procedure to ensure proper care and treatment.

An inquiry is currently being conducted to determine the source of the numerous individuals involved in this matter. The Health department of Rangareddy district has submitted a preliminary report to the government, indicating that this hospital began with only 9 beds and lacks specialized facilities.
