Former Minister and Congress MLA Konda Surekha on Sunday said she was not upset about being removed from the Telangana Cabinet, but felt hurt that she was sacked without any reason given.

Addressing party workers in Warangal for the first time following her dismissal, Surekha emphasised that her primary goal was public service rather than holding power.

"Positions are here today and gone tomorrow. My aim is not power, but to remain in the hearts of the people permanently. I will not sit at home just because I lost a ministerial post; I will continue to work among the public," she stated.

Decrying the rise of opportunistic politics, the former minister pointed out that some leaders switch party loyalties within hours.

Recalling her political trajectory, she noted her rise from an MPP to a Cabinet Minister, contrasting her track record with contemporary political opportunism. Konda Surekha highlighted her past resignation as a minister out of conviction for the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, remarking that many today refuse to relinquish even basic ward-member posts.

Konda Surekha also reflected on past political hurdles, alleging that certain leaders had actively worked to deny her and her husband, Konda Murali, party tickets. She recalled how BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao offered them the Warangal East ticket, leading to their victory over a sitting minister and restoring local confidence.

Addressing her post-dismissal reaction, Konda Surekha revealed that supporters had reached out asking if they should organise protests. However, she instructed them to respect the party high command's decision and expressed gratitude to cadres for maintaining discipline.

Recalling Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s political rise, Konda Surekha noted that during his farmer-focused padayatra, she was among the first to highlight the need for a mass leader like him within the party.

She asserted that holding a cabinet portfolio is merely decorative, declaring that public service continues regardless, and expressed confidence that the party would sweep the upcoming municipal corporation elections.
