The Telangana State Election Commission has published the draft electoral rolls prepared following the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Addressing media persons here on Monday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sudarshan Reddy stated that the initial phase of the state-wide exercise is complete, with enumeration form reception crossing 78 per cent. During the verification process, over two per cent of voters were identified as deceased, while nearly 60 lakh records reflected entries with anomalies. Additionally, approximately 32 lakh electors were found to be unmapped. Consequently, notices are slated to be issued to roughly 92 lakh individuals across the state.

The CEO advised voters who receive notices to respond at the earliest by submitting the necessary supporting documents for verification. He assured that the election authority will clearly outline the grounds for issuing each notice.

"Electors who have concerns or objections regarding the deletion of their names from the voter rolls are entitled to submit their representations," Sudarshan Reddy added. The examination of claims, objections, and relevant applications will run through October, with over 2,000 official personnel deployed across the state to manage the scrutiny. The final publication of the electoral rolls is scheduled following the completion of the review process.
