Actress Dia Mirza shares post in support of Sonam Wangchuk

Actress Dia Mirza extended her support to activist Sonam Wangchuk amid his hunger strike and said she “stands by the demand for accountability, transparency and reforms in the education system”.

Wangchuk was taken from the Jantar Mantar protest spot to Safdarjung Hospital in the early hours on Saturday. The activist has been on a hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar after joining the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) protest demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The actor shared a post on her Instagram handle on Saturday and said she supports his aim for the welfare of the students.

“I stand with the students of this nation. I support the right to peaceful protest. I stand by the demand for accountability, transparency and reforms in our education system. I stand with Sonam Wangchuk, Neha, Ameen and Manish,” she wrote in the post.

Actor Sonakshi Sinha, singer Vishal Dadlani and actor Parvathy Thiruvothu also voiced their support to the activist and expressed disappointment over his shift to the hospital.

Other actors who have come in support of the activist include Hrithik Roshan, Zeenat Aman, Anurag Kashyap, Soni Razdan, and Abhay Deol, among others.
