Minister for IT and Industries Sridhar Babu on Tuesday handed over electric vehicles to Sparsh Hospice in Khajaguda, enabling home-based medical care for terminally ill patients. These vehicles were generously provided through the support of donors and the Rotary Club of Banjara Hills. Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu stated that no one wishes for death and the emotional turmoil faced by those in their final moments is unfathomable."As human beings, it is our moral duty to extend love and compassion. More importantly, we must assure them that they are not alone," he said.
"Managing a hospital itself is a formidable challenge. Yet, Sparsh Hospice has overcome countless obstacles to serve those in their final days. Their unwavering dedication is truly commendable and serves as an inspiration to all. The government stands firmly in support of their efforts. We have also instructed authorities to ensure a free and uninterrupted water supply to the facility," he said.
The Minister also emphasised. that palliative care is still not sufficiently acknowledged as a vital need in society, and it is essential to increase awareness. He assured that the government is dedicated to facilitating this transformation."There is an urgent need for more centers like Sparsh Hospice, particularly in rural areas. The government is prepared to collaborate with voluntary organisations to make this a reality," Sridhar Babu said.
The Minister assured that with the support of voluntary organisations, the government will enhance palliative care services in its hospitals, ensuring greater accessibility and quality of care. The dedication and selfless service of doctors and healthcare professionals in the field of palliative care deserve the highest recognition and appreciation," he added. The event was attended by Narayankhed MLA Dr. Sanjeev Reddy, Shantha Biotech Chairman Varaprasad Reddy, and other distinguished guests.
