Intensifying the political heat over the ongoing fuel shortage, Y. S. Sharmila launched a sharp attack on the ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh, accusing it of prioritising contractors over farmers and the general public.

Reacting to reports of petrol and diesel scarcity across districts, Sharmila said the situation has pushed both farmers and common citizens into distress. “Farmers are struggling for diesel, and ordinary people are waiting in long queues for petrol. In such a crisis, shouldn’t the government focus on public needs first?” she questioned.

She alleged that the government’s approach reflects misplaced priorities, pointing to discussions around ensuring diesel supply for contractors while large sections of the population continue to face shortages. “Is a contractor more important than a farmer? Are Amaravati works more important than people’s daily struggles? This is not governance, it is a complete failure.
