SCRailway GM flags off reefer container rake

Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway(SCR) flagged off on Saturday an inaugural refrigerated (Reefer) container rake from Inland Container Depot (ICD), Sanatnagar along with Sanjay Swarup, Chairman & Managing Director of CONCOR (Container Corporation of India Limited) K.Padmaja, PCOM/SCR, Ity Pandey, PCCM/SCR, R.Gopalakrishnan, DRM, Secunderabad Division and other senior officials. 

This refrigerated (Reefer) container branded as “Aushadhi Express,” is operated by CONCOR to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and is especially designed for the safe transportation of life-saving medicines and other temperature-sensitive cargo. This rake service marks a major step towards strengthening cold-chain connectivity and enhancing the efficiency of India’s pharmaceutical supply chain. 

The introduction of dedicated Reefer rake services is expected to reduce transit time, lower logistics costs and improve supply chain reliability for exporters and domestic distributors. The deployment of the Reefer rake reflects the growing demand for reliable cold-chain solutions in India, driven by expanding pharmaceutical exports and quality preservation requirements.
