Raksha Bandhan celebrated with fervour in Telangana

Raksha Bandhan festival was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety across Telangana on Friday. Sisters tied ‘rakhis’ on their brothers’ wrists, signifying the brother-sister bond.

Telangana Ministers Danasari Anasuya and Konda Surekha, along with state Women’s Commission Chairperson Vijayalaxmi Gadwal, Congress party women leaders, and members of the spiritual organisation Brahma Kumaris, were among those who tied rakhis to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended their greetings to the people on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The governor, in a post on 'X ', wished that the festival bring happiness, peace, prosperity and harmony to every family and strengthen the spirit of love and togetherness in society. 

"Raksha Bandhan celebrates the sacred bond of love, affection, trust and togetherness between brothers and sisters. The Rakhi symbolises not only protection, but also mutual respect, care and unwavering support," the governor said.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, extending Raksha Bandhan greetings, said the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has arranged 5,000 special buses for the convenience of passengers from August 27 to 31 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, in a post on 'X' said, "Celebrated Raksha Bandhan with my sister, who visited our home in Hyderabad to bless & tie a Rakhi." Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar's sister tied a rakhi to him in Karimnagar.
