Symptoms such as discharge of pus from the ear, frequent ear pain and reduced hearing should not be dismissed as minor or routine problems, Dr. Alok N. Rathi, ENT Surgeon at Medicover Hospitals, Nizamabad, has advised. According to Dr. Rathi, ear discharge can be caused by an infection, middle-ear infection, a perforated eardrum or other ear-related conditions. He advised people to consult an ENT specialist and undergo a thorough ear examination, particularly when the symptoms recur frequently or persist for a long period.
Dr. Rathi said Medicover Hospitals, Nizamabad, offers comprehensive services for ear, nose and throat-related conditions, supported by modern medical facilities. Depending on the patient's condition, the hospital provides detailed ENT examinations, hearing assessments, advanced diagnostic facilities and surgical treatment when required. Dr. Rathi cautioned that applying oil, ear drops or other substances without medical advice while the ear is discharging pus could worsen the condition.
Dr. Rathi urged parents to seek medical advice promptly if children experience frequent ear infections or ear discharge, fail to respond when called, or regularly increase the volume of the television or mobile device. Early identification of hearing problems in children is particularly important, he said, as untreated hearing difficulties can affect their speech development, education and overall development.
